For Earth’s Sake sells organic fresh fruits and veg, grown in this country and sustainably sourced, tinned and canned food, everyday household items, and in our wall of dispensers we have dried foods, including pasta, rices, grains, seeds and cereals. We also have a host of dispensable oils and vinegars, shampoos, conditioners, rinse aid for dishwashers, washing up liquid and many more household laundry and cleaning products.
Our ethos for the shop is to:
Our customers are able buy a host of pantry staples from the dry goods dispensers; from chocolate buttons and wholewheat couscous through to gluten free penne and organic porridge oats. Our Trewithen milk dispenser is always on the go, with customers bringing in their own bottles and containers to refill. We have tins and bottles galore; soft drinks, tinned staples such as tomatoes, various beans, soups and sauce mixes.
We have over 15 types of flours, including plain, self-raising, wholemeal, gluten free and gram flour to name just five. Our fresh organic fruit and vegetables are a must, and always fill the shop with seasonal colour. We also have soap bars; the traditional washing variety and also shampoo and conditioner bars. In our household items we have containers, bags, cotton buds, furniture polish, toothpaste and toilet rolls. In fact we have so much, a visit is the only thing that will give you a complete idea - though this For Earth's Sake Shopping List that you can download may also be a good starter!
One thing that we can guarantee is that none of our items are packed in or will be placed into single-use plastic!
For Earth’s Sake is a significant addition to Surrey’s zero waste, zero single-use plastics shopping experience. Our continuing aim is to provide shoppers with the opportunity to purchase local produce, dried goods, chilled foods, and everyday household items using the most environmentally friendly methods possible, with strong provenance and without costing the earth. Every aspect of For Earth's Sake is dedicated to reducing our footprint on the environment and shifting the way we consume products in a more sustainable direction.
As a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) we reflect our commitment to both local people and the wider society in general. The not-for-profit structure has been chosen to allow For Earth’s Sake to reinvest any financial surplus back into the business, promote local educational involvement and projects, and help it grow and provide a greater service to the local community.
Our ethos for the shop is to:
- Never give a customer single-use plastic or plastic bags
- Not stock any items encased in plastic
- Reduce plastic waste as much as possible - for ourselves and our customers
- Keep our prices comparable or lower than standard supermarket shopping
- Reduce travel miles for our customers and also by buying from local suppliers
- Give shoppers the opportunity to make ethical and environmentally friendly choices
- Know the full provenance of all our goods and suppliers
